Community Development

NBEC’s community development work is where policy, public safety, and civic engagement meet.

Through strategic partnerships with law enforcement leaders, faith institutions, and community advocates, we’re not just addressing challenges— we’re building systems that keep communities safe, informed, and empowered.

Black voter turnout in targeted congregations nearly doubled the citywide average (10.3% vs 5.3%) with a week left before election day.

NBEC brings the right people into the room — mayors, business leaders, policy experts — to design actionable solutions in real time.

Bi-annually, NBEC convenes over 100 of the nation’s most influential thought leaders to drive high-level policy discussions and shape actionable strategies that advance the Black community.

Economic Development

Through partnerships with Rocket Community Fund and Goodwill, NBEC equipped more than 350 aspiring homeowners with the tools, knowledge, and connections to cross the threshold into ownership — turning workshops into launchpads for generational wealth.

In parallel, our alliance with the American Property Owners Alliance engaged leaders and residents across seven cities, each drawing 50+ participants into high-level conversations on property rights, policy, and pathways to ownership.”

Education

Through strategic collaborations, NBEC expanded horizons for young leaders nationwide — from Youth Fly Days that introduced students to technology and coding, to our partnership with EDUCATE that brought Mississippi students on a multi-campus HBCU tour.

These experiences exposed participants to industries, careers, and academic pathways often missing from their communities, equipping them to imagine — and pursue — futures beyond the boundaries of geography.
