NBEC approaches academic partnerships as strategic instruments, not symbolic gestures. In collaboration with Texas Southern University, this initiative reflects the power of academic diplomacy to expand opportunity, deepen cross-cultural understanding, and prepare future leaders to operate confidently on a global stage. This work includes collaboration with leading institutions in Israel, giving students and faculty exposure to proven models of innovation, resilience, and institutional excellence. Through experiential learning, participants gain insight into problem-solving and global competitiveness that extends beyond the classroom.
Through NBEC’s work, we’re showing the Black diaspora that Africa is more than history — it’s home, it’s opportunity, and it’s the future.

In Washington, D.C., NBEC and Hillel brought together 16 HBCU students and 16 Hillel student leaders for the inaugural Collegium: Concord.
Over three days, students examined the shared history of Black and Jewish communities, confronted difficult questions around identity and adversity, and explored what meaningful partnership can look like now.
Black and Jewish communities have stood together before. Collegium: Concord is an investment in a new generation prepared to understand that history, strengthen those relationships, and carry the work forward.
Because meaningful change still begins with people willing to sit together, listen, learn, and build trust.

Resonance was not simply a reflection on what has been built. It was a commitment to what comes next.

Students from across HBCUs came together for a 24-hour Game Jam, collaborating to design, build, and launch original video games from scratch. The event brought together emerging developers, educators, and industry leaders to expand access and opportunity in the growing gaming and technology sectors. The National Black Empowerment Council, in partnership with Shine a Light Gaming, was proud to support this initiative and help cultivate the next generation of Black innovators in game development.

The Black church has always been the heartbeat of our community—shaping conscience, driving action, and fueling movements. Through NBEC’s Lift Every Voice & Vote initiative, we are equipping Detroit’s churches with cutting-edge organizing technology to restore that voice at the ballot box. When faith and innovation come together, participation rises, power is reclaimed, and our future is secured.
